Do you have recurring back/neck pain or headaches? Do you have joints or muscles that ache after a day at work or sports training? Is pain getting in the way of your lifestyle or things you’d like to do? Are you worried about developing osteoporosis? Would you like to know how to exercise safely throughout pregnancy or stay healthy and in-shape post-natally? Do you want to stay healthy and injury-free?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions physiotherapy is for you! And these are only a few of the reasons why you might visit a physiotherapist.
Physiotherapy can help virtually any muscle or joint in your body become (and stay) pain and injury free, and healthy and happy bodies = healthy and happy people.
No. You are more than welcome to ring and book an appointment without being referred by a doctor. However, if you are currently receiving medical treatment for the same condition it would be best to advise your doctor that you intend to see us so that they can provide us with any relevant information.
An initial appointment will take 45 minutes. The physiotherapist will ask you a few questions to begin with (to find out what your current problem and past medical history is), and will then conduct a physical assessment to find out the cause of the problem. All of this information is then used to develop a personalised treatment program for you. The physiotherapist will start your treatment in the first session and may recommend that you return for another appointment in the future. You may also be given some exercises or stretches to continue at home.
Yourself. Any relevant paperwork (letters/referrals from your doctor, xray reports, workcover certificates etc.). Comfortable clothes for exercising in if you’re attending a pilates session, and your footwear for a podiatry appointment.
Much less than ignoring the injury! It’s possible that you may feel some discomfort during a session of physiotherapy treatment. This is because some muscles or ligaments which have become tight due to injury or pain may need to be lengthened and released. Your physiotherapist will constantly check how you’re feeling throughout their treatment and will ensure that any discomfort you do feel is minimal. The benefits in the long term will be well worth it!
Definitely. While we can obviously offer you a wider range of appointment times if you’re prepared to see any of our physios, we can also arrange for you to continue treatment with the one physiotherapist if you would prefer.
Some limited sessions are covered by Medicare (these are limited to those patients referred by their medical practitioner on the Enhanced Primary Care Program (EPC). Please discuss this with your General Practitioner. All physiotherapy, Pilates, podiatry, acupuncture, massage and pregnancy fitness classes are covered by private health funds.
